Edmonds Residence Remodel & Addition: A Revival Rooted in Craftsmanship

What began as a much-needed remodel quickly evolved into a full-scale restoration and reinvention of this Edmonds residence, blending structural necessity with bold design choices and exceptional craftsmanship.

The project uncovered significant issues beneath the surface—completely rotted-out bathrooms caused by long-term leaks required a full gut of the space. We replaced all framing, subflooring, and even critical support beams, ensuring the home’s structural integrity for generations to come. What could have been a setback became an opportunity to rebuild smarter, stronger, and more beautifully.

The kitchen redesign was equally ambitious. With lot restrictions preventing a traditional addition, we turned to a creative solution: utilizing the home’s extra-wide rear roof overhang to add 3 feet of interior space—just enough to create a kitchen worthy of a chef.

This new culinary centerpiece features a French-made, cast iron gas-burning stove, a flush-depth refrigerator, island sink with bar seating for entertaining, and a built-in coffee machine for a full gourmet experience. We raised the roofline to create a vaulted ceiling that didn’t exist before, opening the kitchen up to natural light and volume.

When the cabinet maker declined to build the custom hood, citing its complexity, we stepped in. Using pre-finished materials, we constructed a stunning custom range hood in-house, adding a dramatic focal point above the stove. Under-cabinet lighting, plug molds, and granite countertops with full-height backsplash complete the kitchen’s modern yet timeless feel.

This project is a true example of transforming a home from the ground up—rescuing it from past damage and reimagining it as a high-performance, design-forward living space.

Rebuilt. Reimagined. Remarkable.
